Description:

Single folio from an antiphoner, North-East France or Rhineland. 305 x 193 mm; writing area 225x 139 mm. Trimmed for use in binding.
14 lines per page; drypoint ruling. Pregothica writing. Red ink initials and rubrics. Messine/Lorraine notation on three (four?)-line drypoint staff with red F line and both F and A clefs.
Contains part of an unusual, but unnotated, office for St Malo, and chants for St. Cecilia. May form part of the same antiphoner as: https://cantus.uwaterloo.ca/source/698356 , which is nearly identical in format and notation and likewise has unusual and unnotated chants for Malo.
The office for St. Malo present in this fragment seems to be originally from western France; this version appears to be a secular modification of the monastic office found at Marmoutier (F-TOm : Ms 0153). In this fragment the Lauds antiphons are in the same order as those in a fragment now in Archives départementales d’Indre-et-Loire, 1 I 22.
