Summary:
Single leaf from an antiphoner used to bind an incunable.
Description:

Single leaf from and antiphoner, used as a binding for a print of Lucan's Pharsalia (Brescia 1486.) The visible chants are a partial responsory and verse for a feast in honour of Peter, "Ego pro te rogavi" and "Caro et sanguis." The melody of "Caro et sanguis" verse seems to match that found in Franciscan sources.
The size of the original manuscript is unknown. A section of approximately 520 x 340 mm must have been used for the binding, and the original leaf was presumably larger. However, very little is missing from the text/music lines, so the written area was probably not much more than 380 mm wide. The opening of the responsory "Quem dicunt homines" is visible through the page; it is likely this is the responsory which follows (as in I-Ac 693), in which case almost the entire written area of the leaf is visible in the binding.
